guys be carefull when lubing your chains...GRAPHIC

lifted from elsewhere

*****LEAVE NOW IF YOU WILL BE OFFENDED BY GRAPHIC PICS*****

I will start off by saying that I am a worthless squid rookie and I suck at everything in life.
I was about to go for a ride today and my chain was pretty nasty, so I put it up on the stands and got out the wd-40 and a rag. I started the bike, put it in gear and let it idle. I sprayed the chain down really well and I put the rag up to it and it got caught and took my hand with it through the rear sprocket. I had to have everything above my last joint amputated on my index, pointer and my ring finger on my right hand. Thankfully I am left handed. It was a stupid mistake on my part and now I will forever pay the price for it. Say what you will, flame away, I don't care. I have accepted it and I take full responsibility. I made a choice (not knowing any better) and I will live with the consequences for the rest of my life. I thought I would post this so that 1.) no one else ever makes this mistake and 2.) To show that you don't have to be riding for a bike to get you hurt.

And the lesson there is.... don't use WD-40 on your chain!

Just kidding, they are horrific pics, and show just how easily accidents can happen. I would NEVER lube my chain with the engine running & in gear.

I met a guy many years ago that lost three fingers the same way.
Even spinning the wheel by hand can mess you up if you get your fingers in there.

I would never run the engine like that. But as you've pointed out (no pun intended) You've taken responsibility for your actions and have posted up here to offer your misfortune as a lesson for everyone else not to have to learn.
Hope you heal up soon and can get back to riding

Do, or do not, there is no try !

Sorry about your accident but it takes a big person to show all the mistake you made knowing that much critisism will follow. Looks like you have a good chance to heal up well with only some impact on everyday life. Could have been much worse.

The posting was lifted from another forum... I don't think y2blade was the one that had the accident, it's from a gixxer forum.

Totally agree with the comments though, we all hope the injured party gets better soon
