Re: cbr600 f

Some areas that can be the concern:
1) fuel starvation issue
2) carb issue
3) coil issue/spark issue
Best way we can help you is to give us a better description of what's going on when "near stop." When it near stop and you put it back in first/second will it have full power again. What rpm are you at during first and second. Does speed play a factor, if you skip third or fourth will fifth have power again?

Re: cbr600 f

How many miles have you put on it since you picked it up? Did the previous owner install a jet kit with the exhaust upgrade? I would start with maybe pulling the air cleaner and spraying some carb/choke cleaner in there. Is there anyone living in the airbox or the filter is clogged? It doesn't take very long for things to get gummy in the fuel system. Maybe sticking floats or partially blocked jet ports? Try and download a manual and set all the carb settings back to the factory settings to start.

Just trying to sort some of the possible simple things first and maybe save some $$.

Sorry for the delay Jdoni, but here I am

Sabotage listed good points to get a start on. Bikes that work good in 2 gears should work in all gears. Can you get the bike to "work through" the supposed dead spots? Can he bike be ridden at all in 4th 5th 6th? So far it seems carb related. Have the carbs come out to be checked and cleaned? Do you know what size jets you have and where the needle is positioned? If the bike has sat unused for more than 12 months consecutive you can bet the carbs need a thorough cleaning.

You listed in your title is a 1997 CBR600F. Is that an F3, or a European variation of such? And F3 will have all sorts of ram air plumbing, etc that can drive you nuts if it's been "tampered with".

Aside with all that, the fees you're piling up here may go away if you post some pics of her

Re: cbr600 f

Kind of sound like you have a fuel pump problem or a venting problem, which are notorious with these bikes.
