Clutch dose not work and engine overheats

I just picked up a '98 cbr 600 from a friend and it has two main problems: the clutch dose not dissengage the engine, it runs in nuteral but when you shift into gear it jumps and dies even with the clutch pulled in. Second problem: it overheats when its running, the fan dose not run but it spins freely and the fuse is good. Any ideas?

Re: Clutch dose not work and engine overheats

run a hot wire to the fan itself to see if it will even come on. run a wire from the + terminal of your battery and run it to the + wire leading into the fan. if it powers up, pretty sure its the relay.

about the clutch, check out the kickstand switch. ground out the green and white wire leading from the kickstand switch. try to ride the bike. if its fine, either leave that switch grounded (cheap way of doin it) or replace said switch.

that being said, just dont ride off with your kickstand down! =P
