01 f4i, is it the clutch or my 2nd gear?

hey guys , I have an 01 f4i while in 2nd gear under medium load or heavier it jumps/skips/kicks on me. only in 2nd. bike has like 28k on it, cant honestly say ive been gentle to it. is there anyway to see if it is or isnt 2nd gear without cracking the case? in your opinion is it the clutches or is it the gear. and how may hours/ how hard is the job if it is 2nd gear? thank you

Does it do it in 1st as well if you wind it up, or only 2nd? What oil was used on the last change? Wasn't car oil I hope?

If the bike isn't braking properly, you don't start by rebuilding the engine.

Nope, only in second and I used honda semi-synthetic racing oil when I changed the oil like mid season last year

Sounds like the tranny to me. Could be wrong though.

I have to agree with Sky on this issue. sounds like 2nd is finished up to me. you could probably pick up a gear at a decent price just look around and do some research.
