954 turn signal issues

So my 02 954 has been having a problem with the blinkers. First it was when I turned the left blinker on it would stay on solid. Unless I would turn on the right one then go straight to the left blinker. Now sometime the indicator light on the cluster will blink but the lights do blink most of the time. I have the integrated led tail lights and the led blinkers on the front. Thanks for the help.

Re: 954 turn signal issues

After installing LEDs did you install a new relay?

Re: 954 turn signal issues

+1 for the relay.

If the bike isn't braking properly, you don't start by rebuilding the engine.

Re: 954 turn signal issues

Do you need to fit a new different type of relay or just a new one?

Does this negate the need for load resistors or do you need to fit them as well?

Any UK based riders have the integrated tail light and had it pass an MOT ok?

Im looking at this.. do they have/cause any known problems?

Re: 954 turn signal issues

There are two options to fix the problem - adding power resistors to the circuit, or replacing the turn signal flasher relay.

Re: 954 turn signal issues

An integrated tail light will NOT pass MOT - just have separate signals on the side and you'll be ok.

You need an electronic flasher relay - I used THIS one in my 929 and it's perfect.

Re: 954 turn signal issues

It's a lot easier (and WAY neater) to change the relay.

If the bike isn't braking properly, you don't start by rebuilding the engine.

Go down the relay route
