Hyperpro steering damper
During my last race weekend, after the endurance race in a downpour, the skies cleared and by SUnday am it was dry for sprint races, so I decided to try the Blade instead of the R6 in Lost Era Heavyweight class. I noticed that my Hyperpro RSC steering damper would allow the bike to shake it's head every time I was wheelieing on corner exits, or hard acceleration over bumpy sections of the track. I would wait till the back straight and dial in a couple more clicks with my left hand at WOT. Every lap the same thing occurred. It was like the damper wasn't working. I didn't notice any of that during the endurance race on the Saturday, but due to rain, obviously the riding was much milder and acceleration was much more controlled.
After finishing the race, I put the bike on stands and rotated bars back and forth. There seems to be about 20 degrees of motion right in the middle where the damper is dead, as in provides no damping or resistance. This is a new problem as it never happened before.
The damper was brand new when I got the bike a yr ago. I got the bike from a fellow racer who is Hyperpro sponsored so for an extra $400, he put it into the sale. I unpackaged it and installed it myself..however after I installed it, the bike sat in my garage unridden till July 2012, when it became our endurance racebike. I have also sprint raced it a couple times. I just can't believe that the darn thing would have a problem after 4 race weekends.
