Somewhere around the 120 mark.

If the bike isn't braking properly, you don't start by rebuilding the engine.

Re: true hp for a 929

yea alot less than the other manufacturers of that time... but it is more reliable and more lower-mid range, which is part of why people say they are great street bikes but not so great track bikes.

man i'd love to ride a 02 zx10 and an 02 gsxr1k (just so see how they feel). both supposed to be stupid powerful, was told the zx10 can 170ish hp with simple upgrades and still quite reliable.

Depends on many factors (particularly the specific dyno used), but generally you'd expect around 125hp out of a strong completely stock 929, around 135hp out of the 954.
The PC doesn't make you any power, it just allows you to tune the optimal power that you have.
A good full exhaust system properly mapped you might be looking at 135hp I'd guess.

Wiki lists them at 150bhp I know but it lists the 954 the same.
Around 140bhp is more accurate for the 929.

Yep, the '00 929 dyno curve and performance numbers are almost identical to the '00 GSXR750.

Re: true hp for a 929

Bought this for my first blade purely for a cheap toy worthy of a track day every now and then plus not having to worry about reliabilty on and off the track.previous bikes have all been suzuki,s and all 1000,s .tl1000r then gsxr 1000 k1 then gsxr 1000 k5.yes i know they all suzukis and have a big rep for being ballzy motors especially the k5 but didnt want to trash it so went the cheap and chearfull route of reliabillity and fun factor not having to worry about how many stone chips its getting or how long i thrash the nuts off it.love the ride and handeling it just lacks the initial poke low down .Hopefully resolved when its set up properly its lacking grin factor at the minute

Honda reliability?
That's a new concept.

the power curve yeah, but not the torque figures. the 929 owns 750's in torque. and this is where real life low-mid range makes a difference on the street.

I disagree. I don't notice any missing torque between my '98 GSXR750 and my 929.
But anybody that is trying to ride either of them in the bottom third of the tach bought themselves the wrong sort of bike.

Re: true hp for a 929

Thought there might have been more dyno runs to prove the power output.

2001 929, K&N filter, ART end can, HTEV removed and blanked, Power Commander III.

No wonder these are easy to ride; smooth curve.

I thought I had an arguement about the power difference between these bikes a month ago or so I second the above statement.

A bump over 120hp true isn't bad! You have to understand what gets lost from the flywheel to your rear wheel is more than most people want to hear, but it's life for us all keep your chain cleaned and lubed and your a step ahead most people just imagine if you had an AWD car haha I LOVE them but you'll never find a bigger power eater than adding more axels and gears to turn more tires.

CT, while this is the 954, and not the 929, these guys might disagree with you, as they feel the 954 feels better on the track than the GSXR 1000 of the time.

How about a GM badge?
