CBR954RR unstable idle rpms

Hi everybody

What's the reason that explain the instability of the idle revs on my bike. The idle is 1200 but it goes up and down and barely sets on 1200?

I think the revs are supposed to be fixed in 1200 but I don't know.

Any clues?

How much does it fluctuate? +/- 100 rpms is normal....that's what the manual says anyway.

Well as you say it's ok but, what's the reason of fluctuation?

Re: CBR954RR unstable idle rpms

I've just recently started have idling issues ass well. Mine fluctuate from stalling up to 2000 rpm! The bike sat for an extended period of time, but I've now put a few hundred miles on it and have used fuel additives and only Chevron or Shell fuel thinking that something had happens while it sat w/ bad fuel in it. It is also getting horrific gas mileage, less than 25 miles per gallon. And that's with me riding super easy in a way that I've gotten we'll over 35 mpg in the past.

Check the fuel pressure regulator.

If the bike isn't braking properly, you don't start by rebuilding the engine.

Yea, had this issue a few years ago. I replaced mine and worked properly.

Where is the regulator? I've had the tank off and the pump out, but cannot recall seeing a regulator. Sorry to hi-jack a 954 thread with my 929 question, but we're all Bladers here!
We've just moved and I can hardly find my tools among the boxes, let alone the 929's shop manual!
Other than the idiot dash light, should the bike run ok for a bit if I just unplug the 02 sensor?

The regulator is on the left side of the fuel rail.

Re: CBR954RR unstable idle rpms

Is on the left side at the end of the fuel rail. It has a vacuum tube. To check it, just pull out the tube and start the bike and let it idle. If the fuel pressure regulator drops gas where the vacuum line was, you must replace it.
