PCII and a 929

I was checking the power commander application list on the web site and it looks like the PCII is not compatible with the 01 929.
Is this the case?
I found one under the rear seat of my bike after I bought it and am wandering if anyone else is using one with their 929?
It seems to work in manual button mode but I am a not sure if I can safely load map files into it.

Re: PCII and a 929

There is no such thing as a PCII for the 929 -- they are all pcIIIs, but when they first developed the tech for the 929 and other bikes, they wanted to ship fast and had no stickers that said pcIII -- so they just slapped on a pcII sticker and sent it out. This can be confirmed by posting the part number, or, for that matter, doing a search for the part number on the power commander website -- it will pull up the pcIII.

BTW, I first learned this from an independent website, and then later had it confirmed by Dynojet tech support. If you doubt it, just drop them a line -- they'll get back to you the same day.

Re: PCII and a 929

The easiest way to tell is where they plug in. The PCIII plugs in to the injector plugs, after the ecu. The PCII plugs into the ecu, before it.

Re: PCII and a 929

I checked with Dynojet like you suggested and they confirmed what you told me.
This is a relief actually, I thought the previous owner had been try to do something ill advised .
I've tweaked it in button mode but I'd like to use the map for the "full micron pipe with stock air filter" I downloaded from the site.
I lucked into this deal anyway.
I got the 01 929 with the full micron exhaust and PC3 and a 2000 CBR 600 F4Y, both for $4500. Both were in decent shape with fairly low miles and clear titles.
I hope to sell the 600 and clear the 929 for nothin :-)

929 is running a bit rich and I think loading the map will help.

I think so.
Ussually deals like that are too good to be true but this case turned out to be the exception.
I'll probably sell the CBR600 in about a month.
I'm getting tires for the 929 now, I didn't want to put too much in it right now till I get some more riding time on it so I went with continental's.
Maybe later I'll go with better tires but continentals more match my skill level
