Strange vibrations.

Ok...I have a 2002 954RR with just over 30K miles. I have had it for a little over a month now.

Here in the past week or so I seem to be feeling an increased amount of "road noise" in the bars...the front end feels smooth for about the first 15-20 minutes of the ride...but then I feel the road in the handlebars more than I remember before.

I have checked the front end out and it all seems fine...the front tire is about due to be changed so I don't know if thats it or not.

While backing the bike out of the garage in the mornings I do hear a sort of metallic squeak in the front somewhere...I always assumed it was the front rotor.

When riding I can pull the clutch in and roll and can appear to hear what sounds like the ball bearings rolling in the front bearings...so it could be those...but don't know if thats a typical noise.

Any ideas?

Re: Strange vibrations.

Have you raised the front end and checked if there is any side to side movement in the wheel bearings? Could be the bearings certainly worth checking.

Re: Strange vibrations.

+1 for the wheel bearing.

If the bike isn't braking properly, you don't start by rebuilding the engine.

Re: Strange vibrations.

Havent taken it in yet...I drive it daily to work and back...around 80 mile round trip...it went away for about a week and doesn't seem to be as bad as it was before...or I'm adjusting....the bike still feels tight in the front end at *ahem* ALL speeds...

I will be changing that front tire soon..I'll have them check the run out on the front bearings when I do and update ya'll.

Re: Strange vibrations.

When you do replace em, I highly recommend ALL BALLS bearings.

If the bike isn't braking properly, you don't start by rebuilding the engine.
