CBR900RR 918cc snatchey & poor mid range

Hi Again!

As per the title I have a 1999 model 918cc blade and it seems fairly flat compared to my 1998 model that I have just sold (mid revs -5000 - 8000) above 8500 it feels just the same. Also if I'm going round a roundabout at about 6000 revs and roll off the throttle when I open it again it seems to hesitate then come back with a bang. It's completely standard (original can and air filter) and has been regularly serviced and the chain is adjusted correctly.
Do they suffer with carb faults or air leaks?? has any one else had this problem?

Thanks in advance

I had a similar issue on my 97 blade. it turned out after a full weekend of work it was a sticky float and the carbs needed to be scrubed.

I think you could be right, So I'm going to fit a new can that I've ordered, new plugs, clean the carbs and balance them on Friday to see it it cure the problem. I'll keep you updated :-)

Definitely sounds like gummed up carbs. Carbed bikes, while a bit of a bear to tune, are pretty easy to diagnose when there's issues.
