Wire on the back of the Regulator

Gents, whilst I was messing around with my 1996 RRV yesterday I found a thin black wire with Spade connectors on each end mounted behind the Regulator on the Regulators mounting nuts. It was broken and I'm wondering what's it for and is it needed ?
I've read somewhere about Honda Regulator problems is this wire required or something ?
I couldn't see it listed on the Ron Ayers website !!!

Re: Wire on the back of the Regulator

Someone's probably used it as a ground for something at some point.

If the bike isn't braking properly, you don't start by rebuilding the engine.

What doesn't make sense is the bike was bog stock when I bought it with only 1850 miles on it. The wire goes from the back of one nut to the back of the other. I'm referring to the two attachment nuts that hold the rectifier regulator on to the frame.

Re: Wire on the back of the Regulator

from what you have described, its a ground loop & has no real purpose whatsoever.

Do you have a pic?

Sorry don't have a pic but it was simply a thin black wire, round spade connector on each end and bolted under the two nuts that the R/R bolts onto. So two bolts throught the R/R mounts and then the nuts on the back with the wire.

Simply I don't need it then ?

+1

if anything it gives an extra opportunity for the nuts to come loose. Trash it.

While you're in the area you can apply CPU heat paste to the back of the regulator to help it keep cool
