random low fuel light?

2001 929RR Driving home today my fuel light came on about 82 miles on the clock. Could I have a short somewhere? Last time I filled up i t wasn't until 298mi that the low fuel light came on and I filled it up..

Re: random low fuel light?

298 miles out of a tank of gas on a 929 that's crazy?! I get maybe 150 out of my 954 cruising down the highway...

Re: random low fuel light?

The only thing I've added is the k&n air filter before I filled up.

298 miles is not possible in my opinion, that's more than 30kpl.
Do you have stock gearing?
82 miles though is a little on the low side depending on how you ride.
Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator recently?
