Re: Doesn't anyone here have a 1995 CBR900RR?

Awesome. All I need is a pick of the wires going into the ecu connector. I attached the pic of what I need. This is the broken connector with missing wires.
Basically the guy I bought it from flipped it and the ecu ripped out and half the wires were fubarred. I had a blackbird harness with the same connector so I rewired the connector according to the wiring diagram. Bike runs great however, according to the diagram there is a pink wire coming out of the ecu that I don't have. I believe the ecu uses it for a kill signal since everything but the kill switch works.

sorry man I looked at mine. shes a 95 and no pink wire anywhere.?
runs just fine kill switch works fine.
dunno what to tell ya. from what I can tell the pink just ties back in to the green wire in the wiring diagram

9, I looked at my manual as well, it just shows it piggy backed on the ground going into the connector. So yours has no pink pigtailed on the ground going into the ICM? What would that do anyhow (what the manual shows)? Seems useless.

I dunno what Honda had going with it.? but its not a thing it has to have I don't guess considering mine runs just fine and all operations are normal as they should be. but there's no telling if my harness and ecm are from a 95, but my engine is95 tho I ran the numbers.

yep it goes right back into the ground wire. but they never go into detail of what the pink wire is used for? think on the later bike the pink wire is used it the ignition back to the ecm I believe ill have to have a look at the manual again tho.

Re: Doesn't anyone here have a 1995 CBR900RR?

Yeah very weird. The 96-97 don't have a pink from he ICM. Only in line with the speed sensor. I have the 96-99 manual as well and it shows the 98-99 have the pink from he ICM going right to the ignition switch, which I guess is the diode that people have trouble with every now and then. That will either cut spark or kill the starter, not sure.

TJ, maybe you have a 98-99 ignition switch in there and the diode is smoked?? It's on the bottom, under the ignition switch cylinder. There is a picture of it on this site somewhere. Use search to try and look it up.

Re: Doesn't anyone here have a 1995 CBR900RR?

yea that's what I meant by the later one 98-99 900rrs used the pink wire for ignition somehow. thanks for verifying in manual.
sounds like he still trying to get all the wires back in the right spots from when it somehow got ripped out. must of been good crash to rip it from under seat off the plastic retainers

Re: Doesn't anyone here have a 1995 CBR900RR?

Thanks. If you have a 95 with no pink wire then I'm happy. That just verifies my thoughts. I think that they had that wire there in the plans and schematics but it never made it to production. I traced back my by ignition wires and found a broken wire. So everything is working fine. No pink wire anywhere to be found other than in the manual wiring diagrams. If it runs and everything works then I'm not gonna worry about it. Thanks for the help. Frustrates me though on why honda would have that wire come out of the ecu and tie into ground with no apparent use whatsoever. and the 95 is the only cbr with that in the diagram.

Re: Doesn't anyone here have a 1995 CBR900RR?

I commented on another post but I ended up putting a 98 harness on my 93, the 98+ had a pink wire, it was used for a type of keysense wire for starting the bike

Re: Doesn't anyone here have a 1995 CBR900RR?

THat's what I found the newer 900s used a pink wire to tie into the ignition system. But the 95 wiring diagram has one coming out of the ecu and going to ground. I don't have a pink wire anywhere that I can find on my 95 or the harness I used. But everything works. so I'm not going to worry about it. Who knows.
