Clutch problem?

I've an RRX and there's something strange going on with the clutch. The clutch lever quickly becomes loose when pulling it a lot and comes closer to the bar. The peddle feels a little odd as its going into gear (maybe). And, as you accelerate there's a small delay, or at least it feels that way as you release the clutch, as if maybe the clutch is still engaged to some degree? Sorry this all sounds a bit vague. The symptoms are a little vague apart from the sloppy lever. I've examined the cable and it looks ok, no frayed bits. I've taken the clutch apart and it looks ok to me (but I'm not a mechanic). All nuts and bolts are tight. How rough should the clutch plates be? How do you know visually when its worn out? One thing I did do was change the oil and put fully synthetic oil in. A good mechanic told me this can make the clutch slip?
Any ideas folks?
Cheers
Stu

Have you considered replacing the cable?
It's pretty cheap and a new cable is never a bad thing.
Full-synth can cause clutch problems but it's no longer a common problem.
Dump the oil and put in a good semi-synth if you're concerned about it, if it doesn't change keep the full-synth and put it back in at the next change, or if it does fix the problem put it in your car instead.
