CBR 954 unable to go into first

Came home last night and was unable to get the bike in neutral. Turned it off and managed to do it finally, but then unable to get it into first, can get it into second, but not first. What is the likely problem?

With the engine off or running?
Loose shift linkage or rearset?
Clutch cable stretched?

Both.

The clutch has been a bit funny of late, will have a look at those over the weekend.

Sometimes the constant-mesh trans doesn't want to switch gears if you stop kind of funny. I have the same issue with my 54 on occasion with it wanting to go into gear, if you let out on the clutch a bit and roll forward a smidge it should pop right into gear or neutral.

If that doesn't work try adjusting the shift linkage. They can occasionally shrink up a little and won't travel far enough to actually engage the gear. How does it downshift from the upper gears?
