Re: 2010 CBR 1000 Battery Question.
I own a 2010 Cbr 1000RR that I purchased few years back. This bike came straight from dealer new. Well I got it in 11 but it was a 10 model. Anyway Earlier in the year i gave my buddy the bike for a little run. He comes back and says that he had to push start the bike because battery was dead. I go that was weird. So I get it home and put the battery on the tender. After few hours and light showing full charge I cracked the bike over and it crancked normal. Then I push in the kill switch and after few crancks the battery died. I go ok well its time for a new battery. I went and purchased a battery from Battery Giant! Maybe that was mistake number one.
So I charge the new battery (tender) and installed into my bike. I never tried to cranck the bike with kill switch off to see how long it would last but just started riding the bike and had no issues.
So here is the question:
I did notice compared to like my buds R1 that my bike crancks alot slower then his. I never even gave 2 thoughts about battery ever before but now its bother me a little bit. I will try the cranck with kill switch off to see how long new battery can cranck before it runs out of juice. I heard that I can start the bike and take posative cable off to check if my stator is working. I might have a bad stator if bike dies? If not then maybe my battery is crap.
So owners of 08+ 1000rr's do your bikes cranck slower then other rockets and how is the battery life.
The bike has a very small battery so they geared the starter motor down. It's turns slower than most other bikes.
Disconnecting the battery will stop the engine regardless, has nothing to do with the charging system.
