Refinishing Erion exhaust end can

Picked up a full Erion race exhaust system for my 929, the end can has a lot of flaking paint but structurally perfect and the headers just need a lot of elbow grease.
Has anyone refinished a similar can or any ideas what paint to use, grade of sand paper.
Any help greatly appreciated

Re: Refinishing Erion exhaust end can

I'm currently getting ready to go through a similar process. I'll keep you in mind as I proceed. I have 2 exhaust, both Erion. 1 is their full, the other their bolt on. The full I was disappointed with the dip around 4600rpm, the bolt on disappointed with the weight of the entire system as a hole. I originally planned on dropping the outer sleeve from the bolt on onto the full to make it cherry but now I may form a new sleeve and paint it (typical of where you are at.)

Thanks for your reply Bob, have you fitted a power commander to help with the flat spot?

Yes, the PC3r and I believe the map is PC's 103 at the present time. Looking at the paint on my exhaust it almost appears to be a transparent black. Is this the same as yours?

Re: Refinishing Erion exhaust end can

It looks like a gloss black finish on the can Bob. I've a pc3 on my bike already with a micron carbon can. Is the flat spot with the full system that bad and the pc3 hasn't helped?
Should be starting the exhaust refurb next week I'll post some pictures of my progress
