'01 929RR Power commander questions.

I'm in the market for a power commander, I know the pc5 has a lot more functionality and accessories than the pc3. My question to you guys is will the pc5's extra functions be able to be used on my bike? As far as individual gear maps or is it a waste of money? Thanks guys!!!

Whether it'll work on the 929 I can't say.
Whether it's of any benefit, I doubt it.
My ten-year-old PC2 does the job just fine ;-)

Re: '01 929RR Power commander questions.

I was wondering about the pc5 because I could replace my dash with the pc5 screen readout. I've heard great things about the 2, 3, and the 5.

Re: '01 929RR Power commander questions.

They don't make the PC5 for the 929 or 954 as far as I know...

Re: '01 929RR Power commander questions.

To answer your question- The stuff available for the pc5 is also available for most of the PCIII's as long as it is a newer model one and has the ports.

Great thread, now a question...What's the difference between a pciiir and a pciii? Which one would you recommend?

PCIIIr includes ignition mapping which you don't need.
Personally, I'd go with the PCIIIusb just because it's easier to work with than the serial units. But most people simply load one map and never touch the thing again so it's entirely up to you.

Re: '01 929RR Power commander questions.

I had one on my 929 and one of the injector drivers stopped working. Took it off and the bike goes like stink anyway so left it off. Not sure the PC are all they're cracked up to be in terms of build quality.

2003 929. K&N, Renthal, A16 GP can, scares the crap out of me.

The PC is at the cheaper end of the fuel controller market and are known to fail. But for the price and ease of use the vast majority do last the life time of the bike.

Re: '01 929RR Power commander questions.

I purchased mine used from a fella on this site, so far no problems for me and it's been on there for a few months. It has seen rain, extreme heat, extreme cold (40 degrees lol), and tons of vibration. It was actually on there when I laid my bike down as well, still continues to kick! Now all I need is a map designed around my Arata full exhaust...

Buying my PC2 and LeoVince half-system secondhand were two of the very earliest things I did on this forum when I was building my 929 race bike in 2003 :-)
