cbr 900rr rebuild

Hi everyone, I picked up an abused cbr900rr cheap, just got it running good this morning, there are two small vacuum lines coming off intake, the shorter one goes to fuel, could someone tell me where the other one goes please, I also hafta get a body kit, some of the Chinese ones, around $400, look pretty good, anyone use them before. I appreciate any help y'all can give me. haven't had any luck finding a download for a service manual either.

Have a look at this re the fairings.

Not sure about the vac hose but it may be a breather hose.

There should only be one vacuum hose and yes that one is for the petcock. There is a small hose that comes of the bottom of the fuel tank, but that is a drain hose for if you fill it too much and it collects around the inner ring of the filler. Photos would help, as well as year.

Re: cbr 900rr rebuild

Its a 98 cbr900rr, there are two sml vac lines, both same size, coming off intake each side, I looked all over and do not see anywhere for it to hook into, could they possibly tee into carb?, got it plugged for now and runs fine, vac schematic would be nice, that neverland fairing looked pretty bad, gonna shop around a little first. I haven't been able to find a service manual for download yet, everyone has all others except mine. Finally took it for a short ride yesterday, guess im too old cause it was uncomfortable, lot of power though. Thanks for all your help guys.

Re: cbr 900rr rebuild

Here is the page from the manual, best I could do for the hoses. I think someone may have added the second hose, not knowing what it was for or where it went. Or a crazy Cali model. Definitely only one vac hose coming off the head.

Re: cbr 900rr rebuild

Thank you, the pic is a little misleading but very informative, its the hose that connects to the 3way joint, it connects right next to where the "thermostat" [I think] mounts, thanks again.

Re: cbr 900rr rebuild

That hose is open ended and tucks into a small opening on the inside right side of the frame. It doesn't connect to anything except the 3 way joint.

Re: cbr 900rr rebuild

ended up plugging small hose to intake, when I hooked up to 3way it was sucking air and bike didn't run right, still hooked small hose to fuel tank for drain, any idea what the big nipple next to small one on bottom of tank is for?

Yes that is #5 in the picture. The fuel tank drain hose. I got them mixed up. The small nipple is the tank breather, and the larger one is the tank drain (if overfilled). #'s 4 and 5 respectively from the photo.

Re: cbr 900rr rebuild

Thanks for all your help so far, I've got a "nice' body kit coming, slowly replacing all the missing and broken parts, I got a question about rear lights, this one has what's left of a a fiberglass inner/under? fender on it w/two round lights, are they the turn/brake/runnin combined, everywhere I check shows a different "shield shape" design, I hafta replace this lower fender and lights mounted to it, what are my best options, did all of them come with different light combinations ? Anyone have any 98 parts lying around.

Re: cbr 900rr rebuild

I picked up some LED's for the new fairing, tried to find the post about hooking them up so both run/ts all work, didn't find it, can't I just hook up running lights to a n/c 12v relay using a1 to signals would reverse flash running lights right.
