Wont start loud buzzing sound near battery

So I installed an HID kit and everything seemed fine, but when I went to start my bike as soon as I turn on the ignition switch (kill switch) my display cuts off and the neutral light flickers while this loud buzzing sound comes from what it seems to be the wires in front of the battery right near the gas tank. When I press the ignition nothing happens, no clicking or anything. After a few seconds the buzzing noise starts to make a crackling/frying noise for a second or two and keeps buzzing very loud. With the ignition switch off the sound goes away and the speedo display works as normal. But as soon as that kill switch is turned on the system goes to ****. I dont see why my hid kit would have messed something up, but it was fine before that. I charged my battery last night and even tried to jump it which both made no difference.

Does it sound like it could be a relay or fuse? I did turn my bike on and off without starting it numerous times during the hid kit install. Also I dont hear the fuel pump prime when flipping the kill switch

Sounds like the fuel pump relay maybe - pull it out and see if the noise stops.

Re: Wont start loud buzzing sound near battery

Ended up being a bad ground connection, but now the bike just cranks once and dies. No more noise and everything works as it should until it turns over once, then I have to release the start button and press it again to do the saem thing. If I hold the ignition button down after the first crank the dash goes out/comes back on but there is no clicking or anything coming from the starter.

I just bought a new battery, but I dont think thats the problem. The battery has to charge though so I still dont know. I tried to jump it and the same thing happened with the one crank then died.

Does the engine turn over better when you short across the solenoid, or run power directly to the starter motor?

Maybe the new battery is not fully charged ?
Don't the HID's draw a lot more current on initial startup ?
If the dash is going out, I would say the system doesn't have enough juice.....
Check the battery with a voltmeter.

Re: Wont start loud buzzing sound near battery

Put the HIDs on a switch so they aren't running while trying to start the bike.

And definitely check the system voltage while cranking. Should not drop below 9V.

Re: Wont start loud buzzing sound near battery

Yea I have the low beams on a switch which keeps them off. My battery was reading fine with a multimeter. I ended up blowing the main fuse when I put the battery in backwards (so stupid), but after I replaced the fuse the bike started right up. My cousin was with me and he said it was a loose battery connection which makes sense, but I dont believe it was. I had everything tightened down. Well it didnt start right up but it was cranking. I had to keep giving it gas until it shot what looked to be like a gallon of fuel all over my basement wall lol. It was actually kind of funny until my wife came home complaining how the house smells like gas. After that I rode it all day without any problems.

It seems like whenever I make a post asking for help it ends up being something stupid simple. I appreciate the help though, sorry for wasting your time.

Check the fuel pressure regulator.

Also yesterday my gas light came on and normally I would get like 30 miles until empty, but yesterday I literally ran out of fuel pulling into the gas station after 14 miles on my light. I changed my sprockets to -1/+1 but I didtn expect to take that big of a hit in mpg. Could that have to do with the fpr?

I just figured I flooded the engine with all the attempted starts and that was why the fuel came out the exhaust

My gas light came on while riding, we stopped somewhere then on the next start up it never came back on. I was thinking maybe my light is faulty and it should have came on earlier which is why I only got 14 miles before running out.

The sound the solenoid was making may indicate that the engine was hydraulically locked with fuel.
