954 Imported Repsol Fairings, Local Respray Tank and Rims

I was going to sell this bike but the value isn't there in the market and anyway I love riding it, so I bought fairings from China and got a local guy to do the tank and rims.

I'm quite pleased with the way it has turned out.
It feels like having a new bike.

I had heard stories of poor fit, melting plastic etc but these have needed almost zero drilling to fit them. They came with a heap of heat shield foam and on the advice of my paint guy I have lined anywhere likely to be exposed to heat.

These fairings are from ABSFairings.
The quality and fit seem good.
The orange colour is a little inconsistent across the components but not that noticeable unless it is pointed out.
And according to my painter it is not Repsol orange.

One hiccup is that the free screen is based on the old double bubble design and is a parabolic reflector on the inside so if I park the bike with the sun directly behind it, it melts a spot in the dash.

The last picture is how she looked before the paint job.

Thanks Kevin. The bike is 2003. When you say 'frame covers' do you mean the 'ducts' on the front of the tank? They came with the fairing kit but are the same shape as the standard ducts on th 954.

Where did you get your fairings from or did the 929 come out with the Repsol paint option?

Thanks mate.
The rims were USD$265.
The paint job on the tank was $310 but that included repairing a dent (a little get off) and removing the stock decals which were under the clear and so he also classed that as a repair.
That was the cost with me delivering the tank and bare rims to the painter.
I also bought new decals which from memory were around $100.
The fairings cost a little under $600.
Even though the update cost more than I thought it was going to I don't regret doing it.
Cheers
Rich

I also have had the same problem with selling mine and plan on buying plastics too. Looks great and enjoy. I like how you say it feels like a new bike, I want that feeling
