954 exhaust experiment

I have a cutdown hindle exhaust and I want it a little louder and looking for a certain tone. I love the sound of a GP exhaust which is pretty much a straight pipe. I have listened to it without a can and really liked it. So when I got the bike it was cut down some. I cut it down more and didnt weld the baffle back yet cause forget to take it to work and do it along with removing some padding. It has slid down and was rattling. So in the mean time I decided to rework it so It will stay better and decided to and removed all the padding. I know I will lose back pressure but I have changed the sprockets -1 +2. I believe it will make up for the low end loss. I have not fired it up yet cause I just got done doing it and I dont want to wake up the neighbors. I have thought about removing the baffle as well. I know there really is not any pros in doing this but when and if somebody removes the baffle do they leave the padding in or take it out? Kinda new in that field cause I know on the 4 wheelers you just take the baffle out which would leave all the packing in there still. Will the same principle work on the bike? Should I just leave the baffle in there or take it out and leave the padding in there or nothing at all? I know I am gonna get janked on for doing it but its just temporary until I buy the two brothers black can or a sp engineering gp can.

Re: 954 exhaust experiment

The SP ones ain't all that, they're just down the road from me and i'm not impressed. For the money/look and awesome sound you want to look at the PipeWerx cans.

Re: 954 exhaust experiment

Same company yes, Hawk is the Pipewerx 'budget' range. However by budget it's only the can outlet that differs, with no laser cut X in it. Had one on my old dead now Zx9r, superb quality, possible power gain ( clutch needed some slip adjusting out when fitted), and sounded awesome with the baffle out. If i was in the market for a can, i would definately buy one again ( already have a Micron fitted to my 929).

Re: 954 exhaust experiment

This is awesome! You guys both just verified my options. Hawk it is. It's a little down on the list, but it's on the list. I saw a vid of the pipewerks and they do sound awesome and look serious. Can't wait. Now I'm contiplaiting black out everything or go black with the frame, sa, with a white body and wheels? The 92/93 900 is the inspiration for the white.

Re: 954 exhaust experiment

Oh and if you can't see the specific can you want for your particular model Blade, eg GP3, just drop them a line and they will make one up for you.

I finally got the hawk exhaust thanks to 954 Kevin for the advice. This thing is amazing and yes it has given me more torque for sure.

Re: 954 exhaust experiment

put up a sound clip! and warm the bike up first n hit the rev limiter a time or two. lol nothing worse than a exhaust sound clip where the owner revs it to 2200rpm 2 or 3 times. h8 that. maybe a buddy can get you in a high speed fly by? even better. : )
