2000 929rr code 1..2..9 stumped

hey so help here would be greatly appropriated. i have a 929 that has been running extremely rich like 98 miles light comes on and eyes burn rich, so i decided to check for codes by shorting the plug by the battery and it pulled up what looks to be code 12 and 9 the light blinks 1 pause 2 pause then 9. the code 12 doesn make sense to me as per the service manual its injector #1 failure and should not run, but code 9 makes sense being that its the IAT which would make it run rich. also some extra info my front sub harness grounds are jumped to make my lights work and it makes my temp read higher especially with high beams on. im stumped hopping one of you know whats up.

Poor gas mileage is usually due to bad fuel pressure regulator. Raise the tank and pull the vacuum hose off the fpr on left side of the fuel rail. Turn on the key and if fuel drips from the regulator then its bad.

yeah backdoc that was the first thing i checked and unfortunately that wasn't the case, no leaks. my second guess guess was o2 sensor or map sensor till i checked for codes.

Are those codes current? When was the last time you cleared the codes from the ECU's memory before this last test?

I cleared them when I double checked the codes by disconnecting the battery. unless that doesn't clear the codes?

if injector 1 is partially blocked, the system might try and richen up all cylinders trying to compensate.

That doesn't clear the codes. You have to jump the service connector.

Re: 2000 929rr code 1..2..9 stumped

looks like it cleared followed the instructions and the light started blinking non stop and now when i try to jump the service connector to check codes the mil stays red with no blinks. does this mean i have no codes? light goes off if i take the jumper out, turn everything off, turn everything on and start the engine.

Re: 2000 929rr code 1..2..9 stumped

guess the answer to my question is answered in the code list as no blink do to the jumper being in the service connector.

Re: 2000 929rr code 1..2..9 stumped

Those codes could be from the past, unrelated to your current problem of running rich. I would go ride the bike for 30 or 40 miles, then check for codes again.
Are you running a power commander?
New spark plugs may be in order, how old are yours?
Have you tried feeling for temperature differences in each downtube of the header? That could clue you to a cylinder not firing properly.
