Re: 2001 929rr fireblade the how to place

Joe, the 900, 929 and 954 are all cosidered "900's" for some reason. The best way to get to the bottom of this would be to post a picture of your bike. Simple enough, and that would get you farther along in this fact finding mission...

Re: 2001 929rr fireblade the how to place

yes the 2000, 2001 honda cbr 900 is actually a 929. 02, 03 900's are 954's. so if the harnes you bought is for a 01 900, its for the 929. you should be golden. i would get on the web n find a copy of the service manual. i would post a link but its not allowed. so do a google search for "cbr 929 service manual download" youll find several places at the top you can get the pdf from. it will help you a lot with the bike. either year will work. they were the same in 00 and 01.

replacing the harness is gonna be time consuming but pretty straight forward. the manual will help. id take a lot of pictures when you pull the old one off to help you put the new one in. those two things and of course if you get stuck there are a lot of 929 guys on here that can probably do a harness swap in their sleep, so if your stuck, post a few pics n someone will be able to tell you what plug you got n where it goes.

the 929 is an awesome bike. once you get it going youll be happy with it. its a lot of fun. definitely the 929. they are listed on most honda parts houses as a 900rr.

Good to see you got it sorted out. Don't worry too much about specs, just ride it.

Ahhhhhh well done with the new post! Replacing the entire wire harness is time consuming, but it will get you very familiar, very quickly, with what comes off the bike to do so.

I couldn't help but notice in this photo, it sure looks like a huge weld job on the top of the upper engine case right below the engine number block. Do you know why perhaps? Looks like an odd place for a repair, clutch or tranny must have grenaded at some point I would think?

Re: 2001 929rr fireblade the how to place

hello Ian,kevin, mikeo.and all yes that weld.when i first saw the bike i almost walked away.the bike started right up,this guy like i said got it on a trade hes a auto dealer,ya beware) he was a honest guy, were that weld is thats the tranny cover? like i said before the bike has a mild tic,at idle and at high rpms this is why i did the oil change first, with the oil was filthy black, used full synthetic, still a tic,i alos looked to see if the bike had any signs of being dropped,i saw nothing, exept that fairing crack on the oppisite side,i drove the bike and fell in love, haha the power was awsome, felt like i was on cloud 9 and 21 again.in your opinion,it also stumps me about that weld,i can see a engine blowing a rod,but that area were the weld is i cant figure it out,i have been wrenching on autos since i was 14 yrs old,i know them,i dont know bikes like you guys, any ideas of what could cause that cover to crack,i do my own work on bikes iv have, minus engine work or tranny work, also the bike has no leaks anywere,Ian you have a good eye to notice that weld, thank you all.looking forward to hearing your ideas,
