Re: my 2003 honda cbr954rr wont start

What do you mean by swings really low?
Check your battery voltage after it's been at rest for a couple hours. anything less than about 12.5DCV usually is to low for your bike to start. I noticed on my last battery, once it hit 12.3 (at rest) it wouldn't start my bike. The ECU needs enough power to operate correctly, and when I was thumbing the starter, there wasn't enough power left for the ECU to start the bike.

Re: my 2003 honda cbr954rr wont start

Thks for advice i took apart the bike only to find i had sum melted wires in my harness so i dealt with it & the bike started right back up i took it for a ride but now i find that my battery says 11.8volts @ rest but when its time to start my battery goes down to 8.5volts & the bike wont start so am thinkin maybe its time for a new battery any thoughts thks

That's a coincidence. That's what I remember my multimeter reading while thumbing the starter on my last dying battery.
You answered your own question - time for a new battery.

Re: my 2003 honda cbr954rr wont start

Don't just automatically blame the battery until you are done testing the charging system. Be sure to check to see if the bike is charging. Get it running and take a voltage reading. Lots of batteries do eventually fail, and sometimes a good battery is just running the bike instead of the charging system. A discharged battery will give you these results too. You said you took it for a ride and then took a low voltage reading. What was the reading while it was running? Melted wires isn't because of a worn out battery either. Jon had 1/2 the answer, he's improving, but not quite there yet.

This is a good time for Kevin954 to post up his electrical test link.

Update:
I found it! http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/acata...P-PMG-&-RR.pdf
