Yes, as HighRisk asked some pictures would be helpful. Is it the chrome portion that the seal slides over, or the lower tube that the seal fits into?

Re: 900RR FRONT FORKS CRACKED

Thats not too bad. Personally id clean it up and throw some JBweld on it and forget about it. But if youre the paranoid type replace em.

Re: 900RR FRONT FORKS CRACKED

Personally, I would be looking for some new or used forks with no cracks. JB Weld will do nothing to restore or maintain any structural integrity. It will only fill in the crack.

Re: 900RR FRONT FORKS CRACKED

Yeah I don't think I would be running those any more. You'll notice that in that specific area of the fork it's a lot thinner to accommodate the brake rotor. The first picture looks like someone either polished or ground the crap out of the lower tube. It almost looks like the whole area is flush where the recess should be for the rotor to clear. The one in your second picture looks a lot worse, and not ground/polished at all. Did they come off the same bike?? I wouldn't feel good about all the braking and suspension forces brought on that area.

Here is a picture of 2 lower tubes I bought off of EBay last year for a 97 900. I'm trying to put them on a set of 93 forks. But you can see how the area is a lot thinner there than the rest. My vote is for new/used lowers.

Re: 900RR FRONT FORKS CRACKED

Thinking of what Jdoni said, even a weld would be weaker than a solid fork. All of your braking cornering and suspension forces are on those forks. I wouldnt tell you not too becausecin a pinch I probably would. But you should definetly think of ordering new ones
