decibel level?

So I was looking at the track organizers over here in Phoenix (xcel @ arizona motorsport park) and they have a 94 db noise limit. I have an arrow slip on (looks like race tech) that was given to me without a baffle. Anyone have any experience with actual decibel readings for these? I still have the stock muffler on as of right now but am wanting to start using the arrow.

Re: decibel level?

One time I used an iPad with a Decibel meter app and compared it to an actual instrument, it was pretty acurate. Most newer phones and tablets (iOS and Android) have dual mics, you should be able to get a good ball park reading using some Sound meter apps.

Re: decibel level?

here is a cheap meter. i seriously doubt your arrow system is going to be under 94db without a baffle but thats not based on owner experience so i could be wrong. just my experience with most slip-ons are closer to the 100+ range.

try n get in contact with arrow directly n see about getting the baffle.

Re: decibel level?

Awesome. Ya I don't think it'll be either but I figured I'd measure it before a buy an unnecessary part. Thanks bud

Re: decibel level?

Its that decibel limit at idle or at full throttle? Cuz that'll make a difference. Might be stuck with a moped...lol

I have a 2014 windows phone with a decibel app. Bought the bike with an aftermarket pipe/can that read 79-80db on my phone at idle. New exhaust was tested by manufacturing company to idle at 94db(according to the website) but my phone again read 79-80db so I'm not trusting smart phone DB readers at the moment.

No bike at all for the time being.

Re: decibel level?

I imagine at full throttle, but I'm waiting for an email back from them for a provisional pass.
