954 exhaust hanger on a 929

Will it fit, with an aftermarket can, by just moving the strap?
TIA

as far as i know the 929 and 954 have the same exhaust. i mean they are interchangeable.

Re: 954 exhaust hanger on a 929

Understand that Kevin, but will an aftermarket hanger fit, a 954 one? A search on here is a bit vague.

Re: 954 exhaust hanger on a 929

Lol the hanger, where the screws go, eye to eye is it the same? Where the exhaust hangs shouldn't be an issue with an aftermarket can, as i can move the strap.

954 one

I want a silver one for my 929, but they only have black left, so will a silver 954 fit, i wonder.

Re: 954 exhaust hanger on a 929

i dont have personal experience with swapping those parts but i looked up the part numbers on ron ayers and the part numbers are the same for the 929 and 954 so it should work. ive also read that the 98-03 yamaha r1 passenger sets are a direct bolt on that fits the 929 n 954 as well. again no personal experience with that as an option but with the 2 part numbers being the same on the parts diagram im pretty confident that either of the parts you listed would work on either bike

Re: 954 exhaust hanger on a 929

Cheers for that, i'm surprised yhe Chinese haven't caught on to these, like the levers etc. R&G want 50 for their little bit of alloy.

Re: 954 exhaust hanger on a 929

wish they would. this is one of those items id probably buy from china. the thing with buying chinese stuff is you just nver really know what your going to get in terms of quality control. ill say i have a set of chinese levers on my bike that were 25$ on ebay, my last set was a 160$ set of pazzo's n you literally can not tell the difference between the 2. the pazzo levers had a aluminium adjuster nob where the ebay has a plastic one but other than that they are the same. right down to the bolts used. i think when you buying from china you really gotta pick n choose what your thinking about buying. i was pretty hesitant to buy levers being they are an important part of a crucial component, the brakes. however i thought even if they turned out to not be worth a sh*t, itd just be a 25$ loss n i could deal with that. like i said tho they are a quality product. i think levers are pretty overpriced in general. its not that i cant afford the pazzo levers i just cant justify spending 5 times more money for a set that i cant tell the difference in sitting side by side or on how they feel/work on my bike. anyway my point is for a thing like an exhaust hanger, it would be a no brainer. its a simple piece that doesnt even have any moving parts for god sake n ive seen them upwards of 75$.

Re: 954 exhaust hanger on a 929

I don't think it will fit, the exhaust is parallel to the rear subframe which is angled higher than the 929's subframe thus the 954 stock bracket is shorter and more swept back than the 929. In conclusion I think the 954 bracket will be too short and too offset to fit. You mentioned you wanted silver, If it were me, I'd buy the black one for the 929, bead blast it (or just sand it) down to the bare metal. It just a powder coating

Re: 954 exhaust hanger on a 929

i mean i looked up the part number on ron ayers for the passenger peg bracket for the 954 and the 929 and its the same part number. i think honda part numbers being the same for either bike makes a solid case itll fit. part number 50750-MCJ-000 being the right passenger peg holder is the same on cbr 900 2000-2003. here is the bikes it fits listed on partzilla. showing the 929 and the 954 so based on that im going to say id bet the farm they are interchangeable and that part he wants will fit either bike. this is the oem part but if it fits both bikes then they must have exactly the same dimensions.

50750-MCJ-000 HOLDER, R. $61.39

in regards to the levers like i said just make sure to inspect them well and be sure they fit correctly. i just dont trust china quality control much n think the chance youll get a bum part from china vs something like pazzo is higher but seriously if i put the pazzo levers next to the ebay levers i got in a picture i guarantee you couldnt tell which is which. they feel, look, and function the same. i dont think youll be upset with them myself. i was surprised how nice they are to be honest.

Re: 954 exhaust hanger on a 929

Well i've ordered it, so we'll see
As for the levers, i've had several from the Chinese, all been great quality, don't buy the adjustable length ones tho', they're too flimsy.
