1997 cbr 900 rr is finally mine
I found this bike about 7 years ago under a blanket in a clients office. It was kept in conditioned space, it is bone stock and unmolested with 7100 miles at that time. The client got in a bind and wanted to sell it to me cheap since I always took off the blanket to stare at it. I had not ridden a bike in about 15 years at that time and was into race boats, so I called my best friend and he bought, cheap.
Then I got to ride it. WOW. Since I hadn't rode in so long, bikes had really changed. It was like riding a Rolex watch and I was hooked.
My friend never rode it, but wouldn't sell it to me. So I bought a Suzuki.
He let it sit until it wouldn't start. He took it apart planning to rebuild the carbs, but it just sat, in pieces.
Finally I brought it home and fixed it, so I could ride it. Then took it back. Again, what a machine!
About a month ago, we finally made a deal. It would be mine. I was going to pick it up on the weekend. Of course he had to take one last ride and what happened? He wrecked it. He went around a corner to fast, ran off the road into the mud and low-sided it.
I still bought it. It only took out the left side and front fairings, but no longer a pristine stocker. Below is a picture story of when he bought it, when he let it sit, when I brought it home and fixed it and when I brought home wrecked.
