'14-'15 vs '08-'13

newb on these forums. I am considering a cbr1000rr and understand the ergos changed a bit between the '08-'13 and '14-'15. Has anyone had or ridden both styles that can compare and contrast?

also, I understand '12-'13 has the BPF added for the front end. how does that compare and contrast to the previous '08-'12, if you have had or ridden both?

Obviously I am open to used and new bikes, so any input is very appreciated. I am trying like hell to avoid putting down the cash for a '15 BMW S1000RR and I think the CBR1000RR might be my only savior. I have yet to ride one, but am trying to do as much research as possible ahead of time so I target the correct year bike, or at least the one that might make the most sense to me.

Thanks for any input!

Re: '14-'15 vs '08-'13

Hi hfritz,

I went from a 12 to a 14 SP due to a little old lady in a roundabout. I miss the '12 because it was modded and 'my' bike, but the '14 is basically the same bike with small improvements.

The ergos are so similar you'd be hard pressed to notice except back to back. The hand position is a little wider, and your feet are a little further back. It's a tad more sporty. For me, I prefer the '14.

Only ever had the BPF and the Ohlins on the SP, the BPF was good but a little under damped - extremely food at soaking up the small bumps on the road. The Ohlins is superb.

Don't overthink it though. The 08 models were also very good and that may well be the 'pure' Fireblade of the current gen, and some people prefer it that way.
