Buying a 2008 CBR 1000RR

Hey guys,

I came across this 1000RR and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger but would like some input first.
https://jacksonville.craigslist.org/mcy/5146643251.html

I'm a little worried about the whole burning oil problem that's going around and because of the low miles I'm unsure if the seller even knows or has seen this happen yet. Other then black smoke on the tail pipe is there anything else that might indicate s problem?
Thanks in advance

Re: Buying a 2008 CBR 1000RR

It's a good machine for sure. I bought one the same year about 4 years ago for $7500 with 3,000 miles just like that one except it was red and black. I put another 13,000 miles on it before I sold it. Mine did burn quite a bit of oil in the end( 1/4 to 1/2 quart per 1,000 miles). Not tragic as long as you check it regularly. It still ran excellent for 16,000 miles and no other issues than the oil burning. I have a 2013 Ninja 636 now and it is a better bike all the way around i.e. forks, handling and does not burn oil at all. That 2008 Cbr 1000 is almost 10 years old now. For $7,000, I think I might look for a better deal on something more proven to not be a lemon. The forks suck on the 2008 Imo. They have a bit of factory slop in them( bushing tolerance issue). I changed my bushings that were not worn to see if it would tighten them up and it did nothing to improve them. Your choice in the buy.
