First Fireblade; and tuning it up couldnt be any more fun. (PICS)

Just got onto fireblades.org and figured id post despite if anyone responds. Ive owned an 04 CBR1000RR for about 2 months, and I could not love it any more than I already do. After trying to get it inspected, I was told that the fork seals were leaking, and I was schooled on what that meant from a local bike shop. So after parts and time, they quoted me at around $500 MAX. So to save some money, i bought a bike stand, and pulled the forks myself. In the long run i spent the same amount after buying the bike stand, but now i have a bike stand! Lol. After it sitting there and me seeing everything aesthetically wrong with it, i decided to go to town on revzilla and bike bandit. Along the way of it being jacked up, i decided to show myself how to breakdown the airbox to get to the plugs. Also giving me the chance to thoroughly clean the box. I have high hopes for this bike, and I hope this website is friendly and consistent. Any questions, just ask!
Matt

Hey there. I too am relatively new to this forum and have also had a blast working on my new 929. Always a great feeling to acquire a shabby looking bike and to transform it into something downright sexy! Looking good

Here you go. This is it with the new IFairings fairings, Q3 tires, headlight housing and powdercoated front and rear sets. Pegs coming soon. Ive actually done quite alot to it already. It has resealed forks, brakes, PSR brake and clutch levers, new cycle pirates brake and shifter levers, rev2 throttle, flushed coolant, new oil, completely cleaned the airbox from all the gunk in it. Next thing on my list is plugs, k&n airfilter, valve adjustment, full yoshi exhaust with dynojet and tune. Its such a great bike.

Great job on the DIY project! I did the exact same thing. I bought a Pitbull headlift front stand and Racetech spring compressor and in the end still saved about $50 from what the local shop quoted me.

Since then I've done fork seals for others at $50 labor + parts and have made my money back on the tools.

I thought about doing the seals myself for quite some time but i chickened out. A shop here in st louis did them for $220 with a guarantee on the seals and labor. So i decided to go with them for a way to sleep at night haha.
But its been a very fun time. I plan on doing most of the stuff myself so be sure to look for posts i need help on!

Don't worry guys I didn't forget about you. Especially you Gunk!
So far the only cosmetic upgrades I've put on are the shorty levers, undertail kit and front blinkers. More to come though!
