Services and beyond

Howdi all

I bought a 2005 Fireblade with 26500km on the clock. Bought the bike for a good price but had to fix leaky front left fork and minor service like oil/spark plugs and new tires.

But now, what other type of service do i need to have done and when? Say something major like shims or tensioning of timing chains etc....

Also the aftermarket exhaust gives off this strong burning petrol/oil odour which stinks up my clothes and backpack regularly. Could this be because the bike is running too lean? I did not have this issue with my 04 Fireblade.

Thx

or rich, pc3 will/should sort that. As for servicing, with that mileage, just an oil and fluids/filters change.

Re: Services and beyond

Since it's a strange bike, how much basic maintenance do you throw at it?
1. Change oil/filter/air cleaner.
2. Service front steering bearings and check for divots.
3. Set valves and sync the throttle bodies/carbs.
4. Take a compression test for a low cylinder not firing off the gas, but the hot vapor now sticks to your clothes, as there are no pigs to richen the bike up, no aftermarket parts, just low compression as a variable of poor fuel burn.

No, but it will mask the problem invariably.

Who did the forks? You? If you took it somewhere, isn't that a question for the tech?

If the end can is putting the fuelling out, a pc3 will solve that, not mask it, i found my 929 ran rich with an aftermarket can, pc3 solved that.
