2011 1000rr coolant wirdness

Hi all
just re entered the world of fireblade with the purchase (today) of a 2011 1000rr. Picked it up from the store. Rode it home (just a few miles) in the rain. Pulled up on drive at home and steam coming from the front end. Looked at rad under nose fairing and water was literally pouring down the right hand side (as you look from front) of the radiator.
Switched it off and let it cool down and am gutted. Later checked coolant level - All good. Started bike, coolant temp on clocks is readying fine and reached 80c then went down. After a few mins, bike running, steam started coming from somewhere around the top of the rad.

Can anyone help or advise on what is going on with this?

thanks in advance for any response.

Things to check:
1) Radiator cap (make sure it is on tight and makes a good seal)
2) Check the overflow vent hose and clip

If it isn't those, you are going to need to see exactly where it is coming out of.

Re: 2011 1000rr coolant wirdness

This reminds me when i got the KTM RC8. The exact same thing happened to me for days and i paid dearly for it,Not only did i have to ride it all the way back to the shop which was 100 miles away, I also got a blow out on the rear tyre too, I had to get picked up by breakdown service and go all the way back to another town to get a new tyre....When i finally got to the shop they decided to use radseal in a practically new radiator and refused to pay for a new 1. That day will haunt me forever. Lets hope yours is not the same as the problem i had.I tried a new cap and the breather hose and just could not figure it out....Take it back and let them do the right thing by you. Get them to pressure test the radiator just incase it is leaking.
