Small oil leak?

I installed a pair of frame sliders a few months ago and have noticed a small amount of oil leaking from my right side mount. Any ideas on how to stop it? It's not dripping, I just notice oil residue on the fairing after ride.

Re: Small oil leak?

One bolt in the kit is usually longer that the other. If you get the long one one the wrong side, it can puncture the engine case. It has happened to others. For stopping the seeping, I guess I might try removing the slider mount bolts, using some JB Weld in the seeping hole, then after it is fully set, remount the sliders but with the bolts reversed to the other side.

Re: Small oil leak?

This happened to me on my 954... the right side seems to be the bad side.. If you overtorqed your bolts more then 29 ft lbs then you have deffinitly punctured your block.. This is not covered under the Honda Warrenty as it is considered an aftermarket product according to the Honda adjuster that came to look at my bike in the shop... the option givin was to replace the Engine block At about a $2500.00 i said hell no and laughed in his face...
What ever you do dont use JB weld inside the thread. you will basically weld the bolt in there and never get it out I used a high tempurture heat silicone and injected a decent amount to the middle of the hole and the begining of the whole with a suringe like applicator.. You need to cut about 2 threads from the end of your bolt and then put it back on your bike with the frame slider... Use a Torque wrench set at 29 ft lbs and the silcone will be pushed into your crack... let the silicone dry overnight to be sure before running your bike again. Clean off all the resedue from the outside of the engine and then just keep an eye on it... you shouldnt have any more oil leaking

Re: Small oil leak?

Good advice!

I sure didn't mean to weld the bolt in there. I meant to use the weld to plug the hole, let it set up, then put the bolt in afterwards. CrazycuRRie's plan is better and more specific than mine!

Good luck with it.
