Re: Best oil?

You may wanna do a search, this has come up countless times. I hear lots of good things about Amsoil, but I use the standard Honda oil cause I don't have money falling out of my butt last I checked.

Re: Best oil?

The kawachem stuff is junk. It breaks down within 1000 miles.

I usually stick to Honda GN4 or Mobil 1 synthetic.

Bacchus, I don't even know what I am looking at when I look at that picture. Stop flushing stuff down your toilet though, it will clog up eventually!

Sort of an "inside" joke, probably before you joined. Baketech designed this piece de resistance in response to repetitive queries regarding the things you see in his eddy.

Re: Best oil?

I've been using AMSOIL 10-40 cycle oil. A service manager I know said don't use synthetic oils in a 929. Well, I did. I don't know if this is a factor in my clutch going south at 30,000 miles or not. I don't abuse the bike, try to ride smooth but do spend a good deal of time in the powerband on the twisties.

The Little Woman's F4i has slightly less mileage. Clutch is fine. She rides a bit easier than I do and has always used GN4.

The new clutch guts are going in this week (along with an Ohlins shock..drool) and then back on the road. Whoopee!!

I think I'll use dino juice. I've heard good things about Bardahl.

Ah, I did not see anyone comment on the fact that your bike has only 70 miles on it. Ask Honda, but I would say go with natural Honda oil--not synthetic until the bike has more miles.

Re: Best oil?

LOL good catch there Mako I was wondering why noone else said anything about it still being on break in, but I would prolly use what Honda says for the break in change then look into other products.

Re: Best oil?

With only 70 miles on the clock, you'd want to go with a good quality dino oil. The engine is still in its break-in period. You can change to full synthetic (like Amsoil) later on once the break-in period is over.

You're still on break-in, so you need to stick with dino oil. The Honda GN4 is fine. If you want to switch to synthetic wait for at least a couple of thousand miles.
