Whilst writing this post I think I've found the answer to my question but here goes - a while ago I changed the engine in my buggy for 'the same' type of CBR900RRW. The original started SC33E (hard to make out but I think that's right, see pic). The new engine is SC28E (see other pic). A quick google tells me that the SC28 is a 92 and the SC33 is later, possibly 96 so they aren't the same!
The problem I have is that I went to fit my Barnett clutch from the previous engine and it doesn't fit. There appears to have been a change to the depth of the clutch basket:
Depth of inner basket (old engine, 96) ~51mm:
Depth of inner basket (new engine, 92) ~47mm:
Depth of outside (old engine, 96) ~53mm:
Depth of outside (new engine, 92) ~62mm:
So this manifests as an inability to put all the clutch plates in (2 friction plates and 2 steels left over). I tried building it up with 4 less plates but it slips badly. So my questions really are:
1. Can I change over the basket somehow or will that then foul on the cover/cause other issues
2. A lot of people list clutch items covering 92-97, are they wrong? I'm assuming I actually need this:

3. Any other ideas for how I can move forward with the clutch I have? I think the stock clutch had less plates than the Barnett hence the thought I could just match up that way but apprently not?
