Does it only happen in second gear , or all through the gears when riding hard?

Re: Fireblade 929rr y.2000, gearbox??

do you mean the gear jumps, or something else? if so it could be a broken/damaged 2nd gear. I must say Honda's can be a bit clunky 1st to 2nd and 2nd takes the brunt of it. Seems you've had a few problems with the bike - do you think its been raced at some time in its live as it seems unusual for a Blade to have so many problems...

Re: Fireblade 929rr y.2000, gearbox??

It only slips in second gear at full trotle opened, at about 5-6000rpm.It feels just like rear wheel caught some slick asvalt for a second.
Dealer bought it from a guy who owned it for 9y he says he had NONE problems with the bike.
I must have realy bad luck.

Or the previous owner was a little economical with the truth, either get the dealer to fix it, or if the fault was there when you bought it, ask for your money back. The bike was not fit for a retail sale.

This unfortunately is probably the case. I had a similar situation years ago with a hayabusa. But I refused to buy the bike without riding it. As soon as I gave it some throttle in second it started doing just as you described. When I came back shaking my head and asked"what are you trying to pull"? he said "oh it must have just started that, it has never done that before". Yeah right. Then was like "its probably no big deal, its the clutch or something". So I promptly responded "No stupid, this means the engine has to come out, cases split, trans undercut to fix the problem". Most shops around here charge 2000-2500 to do this job. I have done 2 hayabusa transmissions when I was drag racing them and was able to do it for around $450 in parts including the 1-4 undercut from Robinson Industries in New York.

Re: Fireblade 929rr y.2000, gearbox??

Dealer says, he was screwed allso from a previus owner if there is a problem with a g.box. he is going to refund my money.
Mentioning the clutch i was adjusting the tensioner a little bit..so that the clutch would grab more at the end.
But the effect is only with second gear an feeling is like rear wheel goes from slick to hard asfalt.
Feeling is rough.

No way this would cost that much even with parts and labor. Its not that hard to change the forks and drum by removing the clutch and oil pan. I did a write up on this a few years ago.

In my experience dealers/workshops do tend to exaggerate to make the customer feel they’ve done them a huge favour.

To replace the gears the cases have to be split to access the transmission. Its not a hard job if you follow the service manual. Unless the gears are broke or missing teeth on the outside they can usually be saved and undercut.
