2006 CBR 1000 RR KEEPS CUTTING OUT

Hi; I had a bang on my fireblade recently, I jumped off and threw her left into a parked car instead of having a head on with the oncoming vehicle in my lane lol ..... literally pulling out of my road from home! anyways it was a low speed impact (<10mph) the front wheel of my bike hit the rear wheel of the car and the front is a little bashed up, new headlight and fairing kit on order. The real trouble caused here is the bike cutting out. The impact has disturbed something I am guessing and it just cuts out intermittently. If I flip the kill switch and reset the injectors fire up and the bike starts and runs fine for an undefinable period of time. Has anyone got any ideas as to what could be causing the cut out ..... i fear this maybe a pay someone alot of money to take it apart and run through the wiring loom but I really want to avoid this. Any advice or help massively appreciated. Cheers guys.

Think it might be a good idea to start with the front of the bike where the trauma is, start by isolating safety devices one at a time to try and find out which device is causing it, also the side stand switch if it landed on that side, so Clutch switch ,BAS, side stand switch , Kill switch

Hi thanks for the advice, I am pretty certain it is the kill switch, I just ran my hand round the back following the wire and clicked it firmly into place on the connector as was loose. I have the bike at work in a lockup so will spend some time over the weekend taking the fairings completely off and giving everything a good going over.

While you’re at it, remove the connector and use some electrical cleaner on the contacts and check for corrosion. A pencil eraser helps.

Re: 2006 CBR 1000 RR KEEPS CUTTING OUT

I was having a similar issue with my '06 track bike (after a crash) where it would just shut off at varying degrees of lean. Turned out to be the tip-over sensor. Check to make sure that it's not damaged, or mounted incorrectly.
