929 Electrical issues

Hi all.
I've been having some issues with my 929 and the electrics.
So about 6 months ago I replaced the Stator, Reg/rec and battery, based on some multimeter readings showing they were all performing badly. Since then it worked fine until about 6 weeks ago, when I went to use the bike and it wouldn't work, 6 hours after the last use.

I live in the UK and we have had some snowy weather of late, so I just put a cover over it and ignored it.

Now I have had the time and a break in the rain to look at it, putting a charged battery on the bike just blows the main fuse. The plug into the starter solenoid was badly corroded, so I have replaced this, and put a direct in line fuse from this plug to the battery, as I've read online that this can be troublesome with older electrics on the blades and on the ST1100s.

So next steps? I'm all for ripping it apart to fix it but have limited time. I presume first check is to see if the ignition switch is shorting? I am unsure where this is located, under the tank most likely?
My plan is to check:
Ignition switch

Any suggestions or tips?

Re: 929 Electrical issues

Hi, do you mean Starter Relay Switch, I would check the two thick cables, positive and negative ,as the negative is just as important, especially where they join the solenoid

Re: 929 Electrical issues

Look for a melted connection between the stator and rec/reg. I had this issue. Rec/reg is bolted the the left side as you sit under the tail fairing. Follow the wires from there. It will go under the seat in front of the battery.
