Was wondering if anyone had relocated the regulator/rectifier on a 2000 cbr929. And if they have where they relocated it to.
Reason i am asking is that i have heard that they get to hot sitting in the tail and that moving them somewhere with better airflow extends their life.
Hi , this is my stock answer which I always give to members having this problem , try a computer Processor fan attached to the top of the reg/rec to cool it and thicker gauge wires to and from the unit:wink
The subframe dissipates the heat, that's why it's screwed to it, anywhere with airflow is a hot area, I imagine a pc fan would do the sum of sod all to a R/R.
I am actually doing that already, but thank you. If it wasn't without this forum i wouldnt have known what a MOSFET was. Found out about it doing a forum search
I already mounted it. Decided to go with the MOSFET Regulator. And decided not to put the fan, since no one else seems to have or think there is a problem with it overheating.
oh ok. But it doesn't seem to be a big problem for the cbr929...i assume, since all others seem to go with stock location. But i assume the cooling fan is wired to ignition power, so while bike is running constant power to fan. I may try it later. But i already mount the new MOSFET and have it back together. right now just want to concentrate on getting it running right....honestly Been thinking of selling it also
