2006 1000rr hi beam won't turn off.

I just bought a 2006 1000rr and the hi beam won't turn off. Friend I bought it from said it's all factory and he never noticed it bc he doesn't ride at night. Any thoughts?

What country are you in?

If it's UK, you will know that low beam is permanently wired to be on. My initial thought is that someone has removed the fairing or headlight switch and reversed the wires between low and high beam.

Does low beam work at all?

Is the bulb correct?

It's a USA model. And both lights are constantly on. The hi beam switch doesn't do anything.

Seems self-explanatory then. The switch is faulty.

Perhaps open it with the two screws and spray some WD40 or similar water repellent in. It might just free the contacts.

Re: 2006 1000rr hi beam won't turn off.

Has the bike been modded in any way? HID's, Halo's, LED's??

Sounds unlikely, but both the low beam filaments could be burned out, or the relay is broken and/or missing.

Does the high beam dash indicator stay on too?

If so then probably the switch and/or the relay
