97 900RR ignition replacement

The key pulls out of my ignition switch assembly when in the run position. I don't know if this is a standard feature and I only notice it when the key falls out on the highway but I'd like to change that. Also, I got a new, polished aluminum fuel cap when I replaced the tank which is better looking than the old so now I've got 2 keys for the bike.

Anywho, the ignition set is held on with 2 bolts with a 40T torx head. I think it's held in with red locktite. Anyone have experience with replacing this?

They come out, but there will be an interference fit with the socket on the larger center tumbler portion, which makes it difficult to line up the torx head. I've removed them a few times, it doesn't ruin the threads, just really tight and awkward and a real pain in the ass. Heat will help, but obvious concerns with melting things nearby will need to be heeded.
