CBR 954 RR

Spark plugs change!! Help. On the bottom of a the airbox there is a hard angled piece with a nut. Do I just unscrew the nut?? Or is it a cable?? I don't want to break it.

its a cable guide from the htev servo located down under the gas tank next to the frame. the servo has one cable to the exhaust valve and one that goes up to the flapper found inside the air box.

the cable can be unhooked from the flapper inside the airbox, then unscrewed at the angled piece you spoke of and threaded out of the airbox in order to remove it.

dean, the best advice i can give you is get online and download a copy of the service manual. a quick google search should turn up a few sources. or buy a hard copy for future use.

the service manual will greatly help you as it has step by step instructions on how to do just about everything you can do to the bike. along with assembly instructions, torque specs, maintenance intervals etc.

Thank you for the quick reply, I was thinking that was all I needed to do. Believe it or not I do have a service manual, but that part is pretty much left out or I just didn't understand what it was saying is all. Evidently.

Kristin, if you're doing plugs, you should be able to leave that connected. Just disconnect the vacuum lines and flip the airbox over to access the plugs. A universal (or swivel), 4" extension and 6" extension (and some patience) should assist you. Believe it or not, I just did the plugs on both my 954s last weekend. Feel free to reach out if you have any other issues. Some of us have had our 954s for several years

Well now I read this.... After I already have it unhooked. I just hope I can get it re hooked, doesn't appear to be a ton of slack. Thank so much for reaching out. Believe it or not I've had it since brand new!!! &#x263a;&#xfe0f;&#x263a;&#xfe0f; However I always paid to have my work done, until 2 years ago when I had a dealership break my rear tail plastics while he was doing the brake fluid. They wouldn't replace it and it was a big deal. From then on I learned how to wrench on it.

I got the plugs out with the stock tool, however these were the plugs. The 2nd one doesn't look too good. Could this be the reason my bike stopped starting?

Frig me. If you're like me (or anyone else I suppose) you would have been livid!!

Damn insult for a dealer to cause damage and then not rectify. I would have been to Consumer Affairs, industry bodies and Small Claims Tribunals. Friggin' asses!

They don't look too bad, but when's the last time the valves were adjusted? Something to consider as well. A single fouled plug can affect...? effect...? proper starting.

I envy you being an original owner.
