954 fork springs replacement

Can I replace springs through the top cap without taking the bottom fork bolt out and removing the internals? Hoping to do it with forks installed on bike.

Re: 954 fork springs replacement

Yes you can, but you will need some way of pulling the plastic spring spacer down (against spring pressure) so you can access the locknut that will allow you to unscrew the cap from the damper shaft. However since you will inevitably lose some fork oil when you pull the old spring out, it would be well worth draining the entire fork and refilling with fresh fluid unless this has been done recently.
