97 fuel capacity

I've always thought the fuel capacity of the sc33 was 4.3 gal + .5gal reserve (4.8 total).

Yesterday I hit reserve at 171 miles which is pretty typical. The nearest ethanol free gas station I knew of was 20 miles away. I stopped and filled at 192, the furthest I've ever gone on reserve but seemed reasonable for nearly 5 gallons. I topped her off and the pump read 4.2+ gallons, 45 mpg. This seemed a bit strange to me. The tank is a replacement from a 96 so it shouldn't be any smaller. I'm just really confused if I had another 1/2 gallon to go and my petcock is too high or if my tank is small.

I've been thinking about going for a 200 mile ride and having someone follow with a gas can. Still, 200 mile range seems like a lot for a sports bike, even without the extra .5 gallons.

According to the factory service manual, the SC28 has a "fuel tank capacity of 4.76 Gallons". The way it explains reserve is just "reserve capacity" of 1 gallon. It doesn't say 4.76 "plus reserve". It just says the capacities.

It explains the SC33 the same way fuel tank capacity of 4.76 gallons, but with a reserve capacity of .92 gallons. Ever so slightly less than the SC28. The SC33 tank is a bit smaller in design, and the fuel valves reflect that in their length of the reserve inlet tube.

I don't know if that helps or not lol
