CBR1000RR vs 954 dilema

Hi All

New member from the UK here. Need some advice from CBR100RR owners

I had a '95 RRS for the last six months and have just traded it for a 2003 registered 954 mint with only 2500 on the clock

I love the 954 but just for a laugh I took it to my local dealer to see what he would allow me against a new 2004 blade ie cbr1k

Well he offered me a great deal on the new blade and I'm very tempted
However, when I moved from the RRS to the 954 I personally found the RRS slightly more comfortable to ride, with the 954 my wrists ache noticably sooner compared to riding the RRS but it's not a massive problem as I'm 6'1 I can take the weight off my wrists a little for short periods

I've read a few road tests on the new blade and although it comes out with flying colors some testers say that the new blade is more uncomfortable than the 954 due to the more radical riding position ie the pegs are higher up and the bars are lower

Are there any 6' ish new blade owners out there that can comment on this??

I'm 6'2" and the 929/954 is definitely more comfortable. Nothing the aftermarket can't fix.

Re: CBR1000RR vs 954 dilema

The wierd thing is, the 600F4i and the RR are the same deal sort of. When you jump onto the RR, you think "****, pegs are higher, bars are lower" etc, but I can ride the RR around all day, and it's a joy. The F4i, I ride for 20min and I wanna cut my hands off, but when you first jump on, it feels like you're riding a Hornet, compared to the RR. I think the thing with the 1000RR is, that the bars, although lower will be closer, so you won't have as much weight on them as such. The 954 was the same for me, but I'm guessing the 1000RR will be more cumfy, even though it's got a sportier feel to it.

Re: CBR1000RR vs 954 dilema

I have a 600RR, I imagine it's pretty close to "big brother" and have no comfort complaints. Just had a 400 mile weekend, which is quite a bit after a 7month winter, and had no complaints.
