Re: is there such a thing ...

When in the US a couple weeks ago I saw an R1 with an aftermarket exhaust but the can was short ... is there such a thing for the 929? And if so, who makes them?

I think hindle make different length cans, but I don't think they are very short. *

I have a friend who opened his can up and shortened it and reassembled it (could not do it with a stock can), but in my opinion it should shi#

Re: is there such a thing ...

You're probably talking about a stunna who cut his can down so it wouldn't drag. They don't make those to sell, you have to modify an existing can.

Re: is there such a thing ...

I lot of people do spend big duggets on can and full sys. just to cut them up.

That said, a few companies do make some shorter cans, usually found on the race models.

I can not think of who it is though, one maybe Devil.

Tigger did it to his bike. It didn't look bad, but it was funky

how hard is it to cut one by oneself ... and what do you mean it was funky?

Are they louder than a regular can?

Re: is there such a thing ...

Why do you want to do this - just for aesthetics? A lot of engineering technology goes into the design of an exhaust system, striving for optimal performance, etc. I would just leave it alone - my $ .02

I remember reading his description of it, but not well enough to recite it. Do a search on the old forum and you can probably find it. Best way is probably by user in the exhaust section

what can i say ... i'm shallow like that

I hate having stuff on my bike just like everyone else ... it was different and looked kinda cool.

Seriously, ppl do all kinds of mods to their bikes ... tell me that they are ever going to use the bike past the stock potential ... it's strictly appearance if you ask me (which you didnt' ... but hey&#33

Funky? Well, looks are subjective, but I thought it was hideous.

Re: is there such a thing ...

which looks better? *i cut about 3' off my Xmetal sleeve and the inside pipe when i re-packed it.... my buddy did it to his RC51 too.... although, his RC51 is waaaaay louder than my bike will ever be.... i noticed a difference in sound..... it is a little louder, but its a throaty loud... unlike a Muzzy or D&D which are just tinny, almost high pitched and loud
