Re: Should I Sell It

I got an e-mail from the original owner of my 1979 CB750 F & he says he's having a midlife crisis & wants the bike back after i have had it for some 8 Yrs. To be honest 99% of the time if givin the choice I hop on the 929, But I have spent 100's of fricken hours working on the 750 & hate to give it up. The practical side of my brain says sell it, but the other side is saying what the hell is wrong with you. I guess I'll just play it by ear & see what happens.

Re: Should I Sell It

Eight years?

I'd say, unless you really need to cash, don't sell it (ok, so if the offer is substantial, maybe). Sounds like it's practically a family member, one you invested a lot of time in, plus it's becoming increasingly rare...

Re: Should I Sell It

Tell him if he gives you a kidney you'll give it back, otherwise I wouldn't part with it after that kind of time investment, that why I still have my CR500 I bought in high school, they kinda do become part of the family after you work on them so long.

Re: Should I Sell It

Screw 'em, you've got a bigger claim to that bike after 8 years and 100+ hours of restoration work, original owner or not. You're being too nice by even considering it. I'd only sell it if the price was right and if I wanted to sell in the first place.

Re: Should I Sell It

My wife thinks I'm nutz (and rightfully so). Partially because I have little if any sentimental attachment to my tools (not to be confused with my singular 'tool' of which I am QUITE fond).

I buy/sell vehicles all the time. You are not me, nor I you, but since you asked. Screw it. I'd sell it unless you are planning to start a collection (in that case I can see keeping it). Take the cash and use it for another project or a nice dinner.. whatever it's worth.

Then, that's just me (3 bikes in the last 6 months... all of them in beutiful condition.. I just like to keep things *fresh*)

Re: Should I Sell It

If he's offering the right amount, then sell it. You can always start or finish another project.

Thanks for all the good views, we'll see what kind of $ he brings to the table. If it's not enough he gets *

Re: Should I Sell It

I'd keep it. That looks like a beautiful machine. If I'm not mistaken those things are worth about $3k, or am I thinking of a different model??!

Re: Should I Sell It

Wow, that sucker looks mint! I'm glad I'm not the one having to make this decision. However, everything has its price and maybe the guy will make you an offer you can't refuse.
